The Continuing Education Plan’s mission is to ensure educational continuity for military-connected students from prekindergarten through 5th grade by providing a skills checklist that identifies content mastery, proficiency, skills in progress, or untaught content. We aim to fill the gap in existing educational programs by focusing on sequential skill progression, thereby preventing fragmented learning foundations and enhancing future learning opportunities for our young learners.

Our vision is to be an essential piece of educational support for military-connected students, complementing existing programs and establishing a new standard for assessing and supporting sequential skill acquisition. We aspire to mitigate the 4-6 months of learning loss typically experienced by military-connected students by fostering an environment where academic anxiety and stress are significantly reduced, and leadership opportunities are abundant. Through our dedicated efforts, we envision a future where every military child experiences seamless educational transitions, regardless of their geographic location or circumstances.

Our Approach

Our Approach

The Continuing Education Plan utilizes standards-based skill progression checklists for students in prekindergarten through 5th grade, complementing Advance Enrollment and Registration, and documents the skill development in reading and mathematics.

The "WHy" Behind our work

Educational Challenges for Military Connected Students

The educational journey for each military-connected child is unique, averaging 6 to 9 school transitions during their military caregiver's career.  2/3 of our military-connected children are 11 years old and younger and experience a military-connected academic transition every two to three years.   These transitions can fragment the educational foundation for our youngest students as they develop reading and math skills, essential for future learning.  Our programs are designed to provide tailored support that addresses the individual academic needs of each student. We aim to ensure that all students feel valued and receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Equipping Teachers for Success

Teachers are instrumental in shaping the educational journey of military-connected students. The Continuing Education Plan offers comprehensive training programs that equip educators with the tools to understand and address the specific challenges these students face. Together, we can create a positive impact on their academic lives.

Parents, the Child's First Educator

Parents are key partners in their child's education. The Continuing Education Plan provides resources that help parents understand their child's academic journey and how to support them effectively. Our skills checklists empower parents to take an active role in their child's learning and build a strong partnership with teachers.

Early Academic Development

The early years are crucial for academic success. The Continuing Education Plan emphasizes the importance of focusing on foundational skills for military-connected students from prekindergarten through 5th grade. Our program is tailored to nurture these young learners and prepare them for future educational achievements.

Creating a Supportive Community

Community support is vital for military families. At The Continuing Education Plan, we work to create a strong community of support that includes families, educators, and local organizations. Through collaboration and connection, we strive to enhance the educational experiences of military-connected students.

Encouraging Lifelong Learning

The Continuing Education Plan strives to make a positive impact on a child's academic success.  We strive to nurture resilient, lifelong learners who can confidently build their futures, no matter where their caregiver's military service takes them.
